The administration of Trusts and other related products is, typically, more complex and varied when compared to listed securities. Historically these are being run on systems which have been developed internally by each of the fund managers. The recent exponential growth in funds management is placing pressure on fund managers who are seeking greater efficiencies in their systems and more effective economies.
Against this background, Computershare is taking the opportunity to incorporate within Computershare Cosmos, a sophisticated and powerful trust management system which will provide full facilities to handle wholesale and retail unit trusts, cash management trusts, debentures, fixed and variable interest rate bonds and wholesale and retail superannuation accounts.
Because of the specialised nature of these products, there are few commercial solutions available. Those that do exist are seen to be too costly or lack sufficient flexibility. Therefore, we believe that there is an opportunity for Computershare to fill the vacuum with this new product.
