Ci UK

Ci is a global provider of electronic documents to both the Australian and UK markets. Ci UK services the production needs of Computershare’s share registry businesses in the United Kingdom with services ranging from laser printing, intelligent mailing, scanning, communication design and electronic delivery.

During the latter half of 1998 Ci UK went through the process of consolidating the electronic laser printing and mailing requirements of Computershare Services PLC and its various departments located throughout Bristol, Edinburgh, London and Ireland.

Last November we moved into new, state-of-the-art premises built and ready to commence the complete security production requirements for the various Computershare departments located around the UK. One consolidated location now produces the entire printing needs for the registry group, including cheques, warrants, BACS vouchers, share certificates, personalised proxies and all potential New Issues work related to capital reorganisations in the UK market.

Launching into the new financial year Ci UK and Computershare combined to establish a permanent scanning environment, entitled Electronic Data Capture (EDC). EDC will be operated and managed by Ci with clear strategic direction being driven by the needs of Computershare Services’ clients. This technology has already been utilised successfully by Computershare for the document imaging and capture of floats, proxies and various forms of election.

Ci UK expects the coming year to be one of strong growth, in which it should reap the benefits from the efficiencies gained in centralising the printing, imaging and mailing businesses. We estimate Ci will generate approximately 35 million documents for our customers over the next 12 months.

Ci UK currently employs 80 people, with this figure expected to be closer to 110 by early next year due to the continuation of a heavy growth phase. Internal market research, our expectations for the UK market and customer potential for electronic document output is expected to see the division exceed the production of 200 million documents over the coming five years.
